Magnificent conditions today with plenty of sun and no breeze to contend with. There was a stingray who kept trying to join in the races, but he finally gave up and found some new friends. Prize event of the day was the Dave Dopson 50M Freestyle with the winners being closest to their handicap time. Congratulations to Kylie Mulholland(F) and Glen Long(M) who were the winners on the day.
Today presented excellent swimming conditions with a light breeze providing relatively flat water. Intermittent showers made sure we weren’t totally comfortable.
Over 50 swimmers registered today, which was a great attendance in these Covid times.
The major prize today was the 200M freestyle with Rod and Di Garland sponsoring the event.
In a result which proved genuine honest swimmers can win Judy Walshe(F) and John Hennessy(M) were victorious. Thanks to Rod and Di for providing great prizes on the day.
We also were able to celebrate Andre Picone’s 21st birthday with a lovely cake. Congratulations Andre.
John and Judy received their prize from the GarlandsHappy 21st To Andre
Crowded conditions and a strong southerly breeze made swimming a little tricky today.
Two prize events contested were the Jim Silva/Owen Coulter wire-to-wire with swimming nominating their expected times. These prizes was sponsored by Phil Short. Winners were Lesley Woodland(F) who was 0.0 secs from her time and Jack Kirkland(M) who was 1 sec under his time.
The Picone family sponsored the prize for 50M Freestyle with the winners being closest to handicap time.
Well done to Lisa Hedge(F) who was .38sec from her time and Glen Long(M) who was .11sec from his time.

We had a visitor in the Gunnamatta Pool courtesy of a very high tide last week. Ray was spooking quiet a few people due to his size. he liked to swim laps of the pool in the early hours looking for the EXIT sign. Sutherland Council arranged for contractors to remove Ray from the pool enclosure. After one unsuccessful attempt hindered by a crowd of schoolchildren on an excursion, an early morning exercise by the contractors rounded him up and managed to guide him back out of the pool area.
Blustery southwest winds made for an uncomfortable morning, but we still had 40 hardy swimmers register.
Feature event the Les Cavanagh Memorial 50M Freestyle. Congratulations to Ian Bourke who managed only .5 sec from his time when most swimmers were well over due to the conditions.
Our reigning Club Champions , Lisa and Steve, have been proudly displaying their magnificent backpacks they received for their achievement. Our Awards night for last year finally gets off the ground( we hope) on December 1st.
