2018-19 Shirts vs Skirts

It is that time of year again when the Shirts and Skirts rivalry kicks into full gear.

Unfortunately, this year, the Shirts triumphed over the Skirts in what was a tight contest. It all came down to the final 50m where Gary Ballard and Deborah Jenkins battled to the finish line.

The Shirts were both first home and the closest to the tag times and won the trophy.

Christmas Lunch and Annual Cronulla RSL Christmas Pudding Relay

What a great turn out we had to the Swimming Club’s Christmas lunch.

Thank you to all the members who brought food and helped on the day, in particular to the Poppett’s for making such an amazing ham and to the Bertram’s for putting together a fantastic spread of raffle prizes.

Congratulations to Jon Jenkins, Elizabeth Whitcombe, Carol Daly, Ross Smith on their win the Cronulla RSL Christmas Pudding Relay!

Henry Hutchins Memorial Trophy

It was another beautiful Sunday morning and despite the bay being a bit crowded with outriggers and nipper events, we had an excellent turn out.

Joan Harper, Jan Rapp, Lisa Hedge, Dave Dopson, Warren Rapp

Congratulations to Joan Harper and Dave Dopson on winning the Henry Hutchins Memorial 100m trophy!

Barbara Murphy / Joan Harper 400m

The Barbara Murphy / Joan Harper 400m proved to be a very popular event with 3 heats and 26 swimmers participating. Congratulations to Joyce Grounds and Bill Jury on their wins!

There were many fines handed out on Sunday including Paul Cavanagh who disgraced the club at the Melbourne Cup festivities by ripping the sole off his shoe before he even entered the Kembla Grange Racecourse and then seeking assistance at the first aid tent to “fix” his shoe!

We have finally started to have some beautiful weather and it looks like all the wetsuits have been packed up for the year (even Bill Jury’s!).
